Here we see Mick Minogue's awesome contribution for the upcoming Steve Martin tribute show at Gallery 1988 Venice, CA. The show entitled, 'Excuuuuuse Meeeeeeeee" opens Friday June 8th. This is a limited edition set of duo action figures paying tribute to the Steve Martin movie 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles'. 

Mick writes: 'For my piece for the show I wanted to merge this over imaginative childhood condition to create a piece that sums up Steve Martin for me In that long lost era of 1987.

I really like how toys are presented and especially from back In the 80s. They were framed art pieces of my childhood. To this day I think I go to toy shops the same way I would an art gallery.  I like this concept for producing more 3D based illustration and housing it within something so nostalgic and personal. I'm using the toy package as a frame for figurative Illustration more so than actual toys.

There are a limited edition set of 3 duo figure packs for sale at the show all on a toy display hook from a Toy Shop so If your there please treat them as you would In a toy shop as a kid. COARSE PRESS: 'Marking the 5th anniversary of their first 1:3 vinyl figure release, coarse presents "the rise of pain in dreams". Hand sculpted by Mark Landwehr in the distinctive coarse style and first shown in Chicago in 2010, it has taken coarse 2 years to transform the original sculpture into a vinyl piece. A project of passion, pushed to the limit of technical capabilities. 

At 27’’ x 14’‘ x 7.4’’ [69 cm x 35.5 cm x 18 cm], the piece is an exceptional large scale vinyl figure, impressive in size and detail – each piece is individually handcrafted. The damaged being, comes sunken into his mattress, clinging to the last strands of life . Embalmed in bandages, but still the blood seeps out of his mouth and wounds. Fighting inside and out for survival. 

This lost case comes attached inseparably to his deathbed and with an individually handmade blood puddle. He is secured with foam, slid into a sturdy screen printed cardboard box and closed with a full colour paper sleeve. His casket is lightweight and highly durable for the long journeys ahead.'

Wow, I have been pretty much blown away by these 13 Assassins posters by Vania Zouravliov. If you haven't seen the film, S.O.B can recommend it. Thats if you like a simple story line with buckets of blood thrown over it. Anyway, its available tomorrow from Mondo if your lucky enough to catch one.
